The Board of Directors of Seminary Ridge Historic Preservation Foundation (SRHPF) announced today that John Spangler and Buff Carlson will serve as Interim Co-Presidents of SRHPF and Co-Executive Directors of Seminary Ridge Museum and Education Center (SRMEC), effective upon the resignation of current President and Executive Director Peter Miele on June 30, 2024. A Search Committee appointed by the Board is seeking a successor President and Executive Director.
“I couldn’t think of two better people to assume the role in this time of transition,” remarked Peter Miele. “John and Buff have both been heavily involved in SRHPF for years and have intimate knowledge of the operations of both SRHPF and SRMEC.”
John Spangler served in leadership roles with Lutheran Theological Seminary at Gettysburg (now United Lutheran Seminary) for more than 17 years and was instrumental in the rehabilitation of Schmucker Hall and the opening of Seminary Ridge Museum in 2013. He currently serves as Vice Chair of the SRHPF Board. Buff Carlson recently retired as Vice President of Finance and Operations and Chief Financial Officer of United Lutheran Seminary. He has served as Treasurer of SRHPF and is currently co-chair of the Finance Committee of the SRHPF Board.
