Seven members of the Gettysburg College football team were named to the Division III Academic All-District football team, selected by College Sports Communicators (CSC) recently.
Academic All-District honorees are considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced on Jan. 23.
The following Bullets football players were honored as part of the program:
Sophomore Peter Corcoran (Havertown, Pa./Haverford), a business, organizations and management major
Senior Ryan Furey (Belle Mead, N.J./Montgomery), a mathematical economics major
Senior Will Haussman (Phillipsburg, Pa./Phillipsburg), a mathematical economics major
Senior Chris Lessel (Orefield, Pa./Parkland), an English major
Senior Rob Meyer (Doylestown, Pa./Archbishop Wood), an economics and political science major
Sophomore Justin Rhyne (Haddonfield, N.J./Haddonfield Memorial), a business, organizations and management major
Junior Connor Whitlow (Berwyn, Pa./Conestoga), a computer science and Spanish major
Furey and Lessel earned their second straight honor after also being selected as juniors.
To be nominated for the Academic All-America program, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore with a 3.5 or higher cumulative grade-point average and be a starter or significant reserve. Up to eight eligible student-athletes per institution can be selected to the all-district team.
