Shapiro Visits Martins For $123.2 Million Expansion Announcement

Governor Josh Shapiro announced a $123.2 million expansion plan for Martin’s Famous Potato Rolls and Bread in Chambersburg. The expansion will increase the facility by approximately 295,000 square feet and is expected to create 127 new jobs over the next five years while retaining 659 existing employees.

Martin’s, a staple in Chambersburg since 1955, has been a leader in the baking industry, known for its high-quality bread and rolls. The new project at 1000 Potato Roll Lane will feature a state-of-the-art, air-conditioned production line and a new cold dock/freezer, along with an electric substation to support future growth.

Governor Shapiro praised Martin’s commitment to growth in Pennsylvania, stating, “Martin’s success shows us what’s possible here in Pennsylvania — and it’s the kind of success I want to replicate.” He emphasized his administration’s focus on cutting through red tape and fostering business-friendly policies to support local companies.

The project received a $635,000 Pennsylvania First grant and a $34,000 workforce training grant. DCED Secretary Rick Siger highlighted Pennsylvania’s strategic advantages for food manufacturers and expressed excitement over Martin’s decision to expand.
