Sharon Pierce Mccullough

Sharon Pierce McCullough, a painter and sculptor, lives and works in Cashtown, Pennsylvania, just outside of Gettysburg. She is a visual artist engaged in a multidisciplinary practice whose work is constantly evolving through experimentation with technique, process and color.
Her style of painting covers the gamut from geometric abstraction to lyrical and figurative, often working on several series at a given time. Hints of minimalism show up in both her paintings and sculptures.
While color has always played an experimental role throughout McCullough’s practice, her geometric paintings emphasize her celebration of the multicolored palette and spatial relationships. There is much spontaneity to her work as she explores the relationship of positive and negative space, color and form. Line and color continue to be the most important elements of her work, with geometric forms being a repetitive theme.
An ecologically conscious sculptor, her work is constantly evolving through experimentation with recycled and natural materials. Favored materials include plaster, cardboard, cement, sticks, stones and found metal objects.
She has exhibited in solo, group and public art exhibitions in PA, NC, MD, NH, DC, NY and CA. McCullough’s original artwork is in public and private collections across the country. Her work has earned her a number of awards in the sculpture field, including First Place in Sculpture, 2015, at Art of the State, held at the Pennsylvania State Museum in Harrisburg, PA. She is a member of the Washington Sculptors Group, Washington DC.
While much of her work can be purchased online at SaatchiArt.com, you can visit her home studio November 20 -21 as part of the Foothills Artists Studio Tour (foothillsartists.net), where both sculptures and paintings can be seen and purchased. Private Studio visits are also available during the year.
