Sherry A. Miller, 77, of Gettysburg

Sherry A. Miller, 77, of Gettysburg, died Sept. 28, 2026, at Johns Hopkins Hospital. Born in Harrisburg on June 23, 1949, she was the daughter of John Quincy Adams and Mary Louise Gregory Adams. Her husband, Gary R. Miller, died in 2013.

Miller graduated from Biglerville High School and Thompson Institute. She was self-employed, handling the administrative work at a service station. She was active at Trinity Lutheran Church in East Berlin and had taught Bible school at Heidlersburg United Brethren Church.

Her community work included the American Legion Post 262 Ladies Auxiliary, New Oxford Social Club and Heidlersburg Fire Company auxiliary, where she was a former president. She collected toys for Toys for Tots and gifts for veterans at Walter Reed Hospital, and served as secretary of Gettysburg’s Little League and Teener League. She enjoyed camping, gardening and attending her grandchildren’s sporting events.

Miller is survived by her son, Darrell J. Miller of Biglerville; sister Valerie A. Warner of York Springs; granddaughter Emma L. Miller; and four step-grandchildren. A celebration of life is set for 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 9, at Trinity Lutheran Church in East Berlin, with visitation beginning at 10 a.m. Memorials may be made to Heidlersburg Fire Company or Adams County SPCA.
