Shining Stars moves forward with new therapeutic services facility

Shining Stars Therapeutic Riding Program will remain in Gettysburg as it develops a new facility at 1225 Bon Ox Road. Site work is already underway on the 60-acre property, including stormwater improvements and pasture preparation ahead of construction.

Phase 1 of the project is expected to be completed by the end of the year. Plans include client and office space, an accessible restroom and parking area, a dedicated meeting space for veterans, and an outdoor riding arena. Only minimal improvements are planned for the existing barn.

Completion of Phase 1 will allow Shining Stars to sell its current farm on Old Harrisburg Road and relocate operations to the new property. Phase 2 calls for construction of a new barn and grooming bays, while Phase 3 will focus on outfitting an indoor arena large enough to accommodate two programs at the same time.

Once the indoor arena is completed, Shining Stars will be able to host all of its programs at the new farm, eliminating the need to trailer horses to the indoor arena on Route 30. The organization is currently raising funds to support the capital campaign.

More information is available through the Shining Stars Therapeutic Riding Program Capital Campaign.
