Community members will have the chance to shop for free and enjoy local food vendors this weekend as the Shirt Off Your Back community giveaway returns to Arendtsville Community Fire Company.
The two-day event will be held Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Organizers said all giveaway items will be located inside the fire hall, allowing the event to continue rain or shine.
Weather forecasts call for rain on Saturday, with clearing conditions expected Sunday, but visitors should still be comfortable. Food trucks will be set up along the street outside the fire company, with tents placed in front of vendor windows to help keep customers dry. Tables for eating are planned both indoors and outside under a tent, depending on weather conditions.
Everyone is invited to attend, and there is no charge for any of the donated items.
Shoppers can browse a wide selection of free goods, including men’s, women’s, and children’s clothing, shoes, toys, blankets, coats, and household items. Organizers said the goal is to distribute as many items as possible to families and individuals who can use them.
Special raffle basket prizes will also be available. Visitors may place their name and phone number on tickets and enter baskets in front of selected items. Featured raffle prizes include a stroller, car seat, high chair, gift basket, bread maker, designer handbags, and dog steps. Winners will be selected by Ryder of Team Ryder.
A variety of food vendors will be on site throughout the weekend.
Saturday’s lineup includes Papa Louie’s Puerto Rican Cuisine, R&A Asian Cuisine, The Sweet Patch, Ahhh Re-Fresh-Ing LLC and Victoria Casitas Mexican Bakery.
Sunday’s food vendors will include Redneck Foodies BBQ, Auntie Anne’s Pretzels, Ahhh Re-Fresh-Ing LLC and Victoria Casitas Mexican Bakery.
The event combines free shopping, food, and fellowship, while giving donated goods a second life and helping neighbors in need. Anyone looking for clothing, home items or family necessities is encouraged to stop by during either day of the giveaway.
