Silvershire Farm Horse Carriage and Wagon Rides

Silvershire Farm Horse Carriage and Wagon Rides is the fourth stop along Destination Gettysburg’s scenic Blossom Belt Tour. The farm offers leisurely hour-long ride carriage rides in the Adams County countryside, which is especially stunning this time of year.

The company is owned by Bill Kane and his wife Bobbie. The Kanes have raised horses since 2005 and now focus on majestic Shire horses. Shires are a large and stately breed, which appear similar to Clydesdales. They stand a remarkable 20 hands high, the largest of the draft breeds.

Shires have an easy-going temperament, but they are an endangered species, with only about 2,000 remaining worldwide.

The Shires pull avisitors on their relaxing hour-long ride through the blossoms, which are expected to remain until Mid-May. The blossoms’ sweet fragrance fills the air.

The tour wanders through the Kane’s property as well as onto the Showers Tree Farm. In addition to the specular rolling countryside, wildlife ranging from snapping turtles to elk may be seen on the leisurely tour.

The tour includes explanations of the farms, the land, and the blossoms, and riders can also see where part of the “A Gettysburg Christmas” was filmed. Customers can enjoy feeding the horses treats after their ride.

Silvershire’s season continues through Nov. 3. The farm is located at 210 Clearview Road, Aspers, PA. The operations are based at the intersection of Clearview Road and Quaker Run Road.

Schedule your ride using the “book now” button on the site. Rides are available six days a week.
