Slideshow: “Angels in America” at the GCT

Part 1 of the Gettysburg Community Theatre’s dramatic production of Tony Kushner’s two-part play “Angels In America” opened tonight on the stage at 49 York St.

The play won Pulitzer and Tony awards.

Please see our photo gallery below for scenes from the show.

Part 1 will also be presented Saturday May 6 at 7:00 p.m, Sunday, May 7 at 2:00 p.m., and Sat. May 20 at 7:00 p.m

The second part, “Perestroika,” will be presented next weekend May 12 and 13 at 7:00 p.m., and Sundays May 14 and 21 at 2:00 p.m.

One of the great plays of the 20th century, the play explores topics of sexuality, race, inequality, and the future of America through the lens of the AIDS crisis of the 1980s.

Directed by Karen Land, the production contains very mature language and content, as well as staged violence and strobe lights. This production is not recommended for young audiences. The cast includes Kaitlin Ball, Debbie Williams, Chad-Alan Carr, D. Scott Hartwig, Buff Wills, Greg Trax, Ellen McIntosh Burke, Joshua Naderi, Andrew Metcalf, and Cory Metcalf from Gettysburg, Sara Bollinger, Megan Rikas and Joshua Rikas from Hanover, Allisa Baker from Fairfield, Erin DiNello from Westminster, Timothy Vinson from Waynesboro, Travis Houtz from Shippensburg, with Vanessa Rice and Roger Dalrymple as Stage Managers.
