South Mountain Fair Returns July 22–26 with Century-Old Traditions and New Attractions

The South Mountain Fair will return to the fairgrounds at 615 Narrows Road from July 22 to 26, continuing a tradition that spans more than 100 years. Admission is $8 and includes rides, entertainment, and parking.

The fair opens at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, and at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Tuesday evening will feature a mullet contest and the Junior Livestock Market, both at 7:00 p.m.

On Wednesday, the popular draft and miniature horse pulling contest begins at 6:00 p.m.

Thursday’s schedule includes chainsaw carving, laser tag, and a live performance by local musician Austin Rife, whose blend of bluegrass, folk, and nontraditional country is included with admission. The evening concludes with fireworks at 9:30 p.m.

Chainsaw carving and laser tag continue on Friday. That evening, Chris Woodward and Shindiggin will perform a mix of original songs, country hits, and classic rock, also included with admission.

Saturday’s events include laser tag, an antique tractor parade at 4:30 p.m., a children’s pedal tractor pull at 6:00 p.m., and country line dancing with Lars and Dana from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.

Throughout the week, visitors can enjoy livestock judging for dairy and beef cattle, sheep, and other animals. A livestock sale for steer, dairy beef, goats, sheep, rabbits, and swine will take place on Saturday.

New this year are competitions for hay and grain, as well as an apron contest. The fair also features food vendors, homemade goods, and agricultural displays.
