SpiriTrust Lutheran will celebrate a milestone this fall with the 10th annual Village 5K Turkey Trot and Family Waddle, inviting residents, team members, families, and community members to the campus in Gettysburg for a morning of fitness and generosity.
The event will be held Saturday, Nov. 22, on the walking trail at The Village at Gettysburg, located at 1075 Old Harrisburg Road. The 5K run and walk will begin at 8:30 a.m., with registration opening at 8 a.m. The Family Waddle, a shorter and more relaxed option, will start at 8:45 a.m. Organizers emphasize that participants may choose to walk their own distance if they prefer.
The Turkey Trot has become a tradition for the senior living community, drawing runners and walkers of all ages. SpiriTrust Lutheran residents and team members may register at the reception desk. Community participants can sign up by emailing Jess Sheahan at jsheahan@spiritrustlutheran, providing their name, phone number, and email address to receive event updates or weather-related changes.
As in past years, the event doubles as a charitable effort. Instead of a standard race fee, participants are asked to bring canned goods or shelf-stable food items. All donations will go directly to the local food bank, supporting families in need during the holiday season.
Prizes will be awarded to the top male and female finishers. In addition, door prizes will be drawn from all registered entries and announced before the Family Waddle begins, offering extra incentive for early arrivals.
