U.S. Open Tennis
Carlos Alcaraz captured the U.S. Open men’s singles title with a commanding four-set victory over top-seeded Jannik Sinner, prevailing 6-2, 3-6, 6-1, 6-4 and securing his second title at Flushing Meadows as well as his sixth Grand Slam crown. The win also propelled him back to world No. 1, ending Sinner’s reign at the top and underscoring one of the fiercest rivalries currently in tennis. In women’s play, No. 1 seed Aryna Sabalenka continued her strong run by advancing to the later stages with another victory.
NFL – Sunday Results
The Buffalo Bills stunned the Baltimore Ravens 41-40, completing a dramatic comeback topped off with a Matt Prater walk-off field goal. Josh Allen amassed nearly 400 passing yards and four touchdowns, while the Ravens dropped the game despite strong performances from Lamar Jackson and Derrick Henry. In other action, Aaron Rodgers had a big day and Chris Boswell kicked the winning 60-yard field goal as the Steelers edged the Jets, 34-32, Jayden Daniels and a stout defense led the Commanders past the Giants, 21-6, the Colts rolled past the Dolphins, 33-8, and the Packers rolled over the Lions, 27-13. Additional wins included the Raiders over the Patriots, the 49ers edging the Seahawks, and the Rams narrowly holding off the Texans.
MLB – Sunday Highlights
Philadelphia Phillies: The Marlins avoided a three-game sweep by edging the Phillies 5-4 in Miami. Philadelphia’s shortstop, Trea Turner, exited the game with an apparent hamstring injury, raising concerns just as the team prepares to host the Mets tonight for a pivotal four-game series.
Baltimore Orioles: Clayton Kershaw delivered a strong outing as the Dodgers bested the Orioles, 5-2, bouncing back from Saturday’s devastating loss.
Pittsburgh Pirates: The Pirates were overwhelmed by the Brewers in a 10-2 loss in Milwaukee, with Milwaukee’s offense erupting early and maintaining control throughout.
Washington Nationals: The Nationals outlasted the Cubs 6-3 behind a clutch go-ahead homer and a solid bullpen effort, snapping a stretch of struggles at the plate.
