Sister Mary Jo Stein to Speak on Care for Our Common Home
The twelfth annual William K. Collinge Lecture will take place on Tuesday, June 25, 2024, at St. Francis Xavier School, 465 Table Rock Road, Gettysburg. The lecture, titled “Being Good Relatives in the Community of God’s Good Earth,” is sponsored by the Interfaith Center for Peace and Justice and the St. Francis Xavier Church.
The lecture will be delivered by Sister Mary Jo Stein, Daughter of Charity. The event is based on Laudato Si’, Pope Francis’s 2015 encyclical subtitled “On Care for Our Common Home.”
Sister Mary Jo Stein has served as a Daughter of Charity for more than 35 years. She has extensive experience in the US, Bolivia, and France. She has served in a variety of ministry roles, including teacher, hospital nurse, and family practice nurse practitioner. She is passionate about the link between healthy Earth and healthy humanity and enjoys gardening, bicycling, reading, and conversation about the natural world.
The Collinge Lecture is an annual event that honors the late William K. Collinge, who left significant bequests to St. Francis Xavier Church and ICPJ. The event is free of admission.
