Summer Activities in Gettysburg and Adams County

It’s the July 4 weekend and summer is here in full force. Many tourists are returning to Gettysburg and Adams County and the locals are looking for things to do.

It’s an unusual year as many of the summer fairs and festivals have been cancelled due to the coronavirus.

The state does not currently allow gatherings of more than 250 people, and it is potentially dangerous to be together in groups of any size.

Businesses are mandated by state law to require masks and social distancing for both employees and customers.

There are still a lot of ways to enjoy our area and stay safe:

  1. Take a walk or a bike ride in the Gettysburg National Military Park
  2. Enjoy the Gettysburg Rec Park
  3. Visit the National Park attractions, most of which are open.
  4. Attend one or more of the fairs and festivals that are still happening
  5. Stroll around downtown Gettysburg and Gettysburg College.
  6. The Gettysburg Bluegrass Festival is still scheduled for August.
  7. Eat outside or even inside at a Gettysburg restaurant.  Most restaurants are open for indoor seating with health precautions in place. Please wear your mask as much as you can.
  8. Enjoy outdoor music.  There are buskers on the square and entertainment at several establishments.

Happy Independence Day to everyone and please stay safe.
