Target is once again rolling out its popular car seat trade-in program, giving parents a chance to recycle old gear while saving on new purchases.
The program begins September 21 and runs through October 4 at participating Target stores nationwide. Customers can bring in old, expired, or damaged car seats and, in return, receive a 20% off Target Circle Bonus. The discount can be applied toward the purchase of a new car seat or other baby and family products.
Eligible items include gear and supplies from brands such as Graco, Evenflo, Cloud Island, and up\&up. Shoppers can also use the bonus on nursery items, baby apparel, food, toys, and postpartum care products.
Target first launched the initiative in 2016 to give families a safe way to dispose of unwanted car seats, which are not accepted in curbside recycling. Since then, more than 3.5 million seats have been collected and recycled, thereby reducing waste and helping families save money on essential items.
The trade-in program has become a staple event for parents, with many setting reminders to bring in car seats that may no longer meet safety standards. The recycled materials are turned into items such as plastic buckets, pallets, and construction materials.
Customers interested in participating can check Target’s website for details, including store locations and instructions on how to redeem the Target Circle Bonus.
