The Thaddeus Stevens Society will kick off the sale of miniatures of the Gettysburg sculpture of Thaddeus Stevens with an event at the Stevens Museum at 46 Chambersburg Street in Gettysburg on Sunday, August 11, at 1 p.m.
Alex Loza, the Chattanooga artist who created the statue, located in front of the Adams County courthouse, will speak about the ideas behind the statue.

Gettysburg Mayor Rita Frealing will receive one of the statuettes and Ross Hetrick will portray Thaddeus Stevens. Light refreshments will be served.
The Gettysburg statue was dedicated in April 2022 and is only the second statue of Thaddeus Stevens. The other one is at the Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology in Lancaster and it was unveiled in 2008. Stevens lived in Gettysburg from 1816 to 1842 before moving to Lancaster, PA. He was the most powerful congressman during and after the Civil War and was instrumental in the legislative destruction of slavery.
The statuettes will be on sale at the event for $23.58 plus $1.42 sales tax for a total of $25. To order a statuette, email info@thaddeusstevenssociety.com for instructions.
