The FBI has intensified its investigation into the catastrophic collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore. Federal agents are probing whether the crew of the cargo ship Dali was aware of pre-existing system malfunctions before departing from the port. On March 26, the Dali, suffering from a sudden power outage, veered uncontrollably and crashed into the iconic bridge. The devastating impact resulted in the bridge’s destruction and the tragic deaths of six construction workers who were on-site.
In response to the disaster, Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott announced the city’s decision to retain two prominent law firms to pursue legal action against those deemed responsible for the calamity, and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is conducting a detailed investigation into the ship’s electrical systems, seeking to uncover the root cause of the power failure that led to the accident. It is expected that the outcomes of these investigations could lead to significant legal and regulatory repercussions for maritime and infrastructure safety standards.
