The People’s Town Hall changes time and venue

The People’s Town Hall committee is excited to announce that, due to the overwhelming response of The People, we have been able to secure a much larger venue for this event. The People’s Town Hall will still take place on Saturday, May 3, 2025, but the new location is The Barn Resort, 75 Cunningham Rd, Gettysburg, PA, 17325.

Check-in will begin for those registered at 3:15 PM, and the town hall will begin at 3:45 PM and end at 5 pm. Due to limited seating, all attendees are required to pre-register at the following link: https://forms.gle/hGiGCrnENgXGz9DV7. Only registered attendees will be admitted. Please allow for check-in time, which is required.

All attendees who were previously registered are automatically re-registered for The Barn Resort, and those who were assigned to the waiting list are now confirmed as registered. The new location provides ample parking and greater capacity to accept additional registrations from the above link.

Invited speakers include US Representative John Joyce, M.D. (R PA-13), and US Representative Madeleine Dean (D PA-4). Voters from Pennsylvania’s 13th Congressional district (PA-13) are urged to attend and share concerns or ask questions of their elected officials. We were unable to secure the calendars for Senators Fetterman and McCormick in the time required.

Organized by an informal group of concerned citizens from the Gettysburg area, The People’s Town Hall will open with a keynote address by DNC Vice Chair Malcolm Kenyatta, after which invited legislators will present brief remarks, followed by a question-and-answer period with constituents. Local attorney Richard “Dick” Shoap (retired) will serve as moderator.

The People’s Town Hall is an opportunity for elected officials to publicly address their constituents’ grave concerns, according to Planning Committee chair, Dr. Bettye F. Baker. Please note that this event will be livestreamed. No signs will be permitted in the town hall.

A number of Adams County organizations have joined the effort to promote the event. The People’s Town Hall Committee encourages all residents to make their voices heard.

Where will this be livestreaming? Since we can’t attend because we were unable to register in time.

Too bad the venue is limited. My wife and I would like to have attended, but registration is closed as of 4/30/25 at 7:43 PM.

So pleased that you are trying to engage all community members across the political spectrum. I hope you will reach out to the local colleges and high schools to encourage civic engagement from the future generation
