The Woman’s Club of Gettysburg has been in existence since 1921. Throughout this time, its objective has been to unite the influence and interests of the women of Gettysburg and vicinity and to promote the civic, educational, moral, and social welfare of the community with special attention to the problems of childhood and youth.
During the course of each year, the Women’s Club has several scholarship fundraisers. The Woman’s Club of Gettysburg is happy to announce that this year, they will be offering three scholarships of up to $1000 to Adams County seniors who are pursuing a two-year vocational/technical program of studies.
Students can receive further information and obtain copies of an application through their guidance counselors, either by stopping by to pick one up or having one mailed electronically. Applications must be completed and returned to the counselors by April 17, 2026. Winners will be notified by the beginning of May. For any further information you can contact Lynne Hershey, Scholarship Chair, at lshershey@gmail.com.
Also, the Historic Gettysburg Adams County Preservation Society (HGAC) is again offering a $200 supplement for building trades students. To be eligible, students must: 1) Attend a building trades post-secondary school or historic trades program and 2) be awarded a scholarship by the Gettysburg Women’s Club. Preference will be given to students interested in historic building preservation/restoration. Feel free to contact Joseph Kaufmann, 931-217-0269, gregkauf15@gmail.com.
Each year, the Club also donates to community non-profits. In 2025, John’s Meals, South Central Community Action Programs (S.C.C.A.P.), Ruth’s Harvest, Gettysburg C.A.R.E.S. Inc., and Gettysburg Community Soup Kitchen each received a donation of $500.00.
Our members meet on the second Wednesday of the month, October through May, at Hoss’s Steak and Seafood House in Gettysburg at 11:30am. Each month the Club has a program speaker.
