14th Annual Race Against Poverty

South Central Community Action Programs (SCCAP) is thrilled to announce the much-anticipated 14th Annual Race Against Poverty, scheduled to take place on June 7th in Downtown Chambersburg, PA. This community event promises to be an evening of unity, wellness, and support for SCCAP’s mission to combat poverty and empower individuals and families in need.

The Race Against Poverty has become a beloved tradition, attracting over 1,500 participants and spectators each year. This year’s event will once again feature a 5K run and walk through downtown Chambersburg, providing an opportunity for individuals of all ages and fitness levels to participate in the race. Additionally, the Raber Run for Kids will offer exciting races tailored for children, ensuring a family-friendly atmosphere for all attendees.

In addition to the races, participants and spectators can look forward to entertainment, food vendors, and community exhibits throughout Race Central in the Hood Street Parking Lot. The event serves as a vibrant celebration of community spirit and solidarity in the fight against poverty.

Every step taken and every dollar raised from this event helps those on their journey out of poverty”

The race includes medals in all age divisions, cash awards to the 1st , 2nd , and 3rd racers who finish first and
the coveted Traveling Team Trophy.

childcare subsidies, WIC services, and more, helping individuals achieve self-sufficiency and build a brighter future. SCCAP is celebrating it’s 60 th year of service this year.
