THON 2026 invites Penn Staters everywhere to join the fight against childhood cancer

THON 2026 is just weeks away, and Penn State alumni and supporters around the world are being encouraged to take part in one of the University’s most inspiring traditions.

THON Weekend, set for Feb. 20–22 at the Bryce Jordan Center, will once again unite the global Penn State community through the world’s largest student-run philanthropy, raising funds to help conquer childhood cancer.

Whether attending in person or from afar, Penn Staters can show support by watching the livestream, donating online, joining local fundraising events, or participating in the Alumni Association–sponsored THON Pep Rally White Out.

A 46-hour livestream, produced by the Bellisario College of Communications, will allow alumni across the world to tune in throughout the weekend. Supporters are encouraged to bookmark THON’s website for access.

One of the Alumni Association’s most active affiliate groups, the Dance Marathon Alumni Interest Group, continues to play a major role in keeping graduates connected to THON’s mission. The group’s “Hope from Coast to Coast” virtual run offers year-round opportunities to get involved through fitness meetups and challenges. Since 2016, participants have collectively run more than 6,800 miles and donated over $140,000.

Alumni will also take center stage during THON 2026, with six alumni dancers representing DMAIG, including Brandon Crockford of State College and Gianna Giorgianni of Pittsburgh.

Alumni Hour, scheduled for Saturday afternoon, Feb. 21, will recognize alumni dancers and highlight ways graduates can remain involved after leaving campus. The crowd will also unite in singing the alma mater.

“Alumni can support THON long after graduating,” said Alumni Association interim executive officer Ryan Jones ’95.

Local events supporting THON will be held nationwide, including Philadelphia’s Liberty Ball Gala on Feb. 14, Atlanta’s Diamonds Over Georgia Pediatric Cancer Gala on Feb. 21, and New York City’s Hope Gala on March 7.

One of the weekend’s biggest highlights will be the Pep Rally White Out, sponsored by the Alumni Association for the eighth consecutive year. Held Saturday evening, Feb. 21, the event features performances by Penn State athletic teams, special guests, and an arena-wide “White Out” show of support.

The winning team will receive the Pep Rally White Out Trophy, created this year by sophomore Schreyer Scholar Amber Thompson using 3D printing resources at the University Libraries’ Maker Commons.
