In Gettysburg, an estimated 2,000 demonstrators packed Lincoln Square and the surrounding streets this afternoon in the largest turnout yet for the town’s weekly “Rallies for the People.”
The local protestors joined a sweeping national mobilization aimed at defending American democracy from what many described as the authoritarian overreach of President Donald Trump. The demonstration was one of more than 2,000 protests held across all 50 states under the banner “No Kings,” organized in response to Trump administration policies including immigration crackdowns, federal spending cuts, and a controversial military parade.

“It is encouraging and hopeful to see so many of our neighbors continuing to peacefully express our concerns,” said Adams County Democratic Committee chair Marcia Wilson. “We thank all who participated today. Joining forces with people not only across the United States, but around the world. “This day, when we would ordinarily be celebrating our country and instead we are trying to rescue our democracy from authoritarianism and tyranny, brought out huge numbers of concerned and energized citizens.”
“We are thanked by participants who say the feeling of community and shared goals lifts their spirits and gives them hope for the future of our country. The number of young people – old enough to vote or not – who attended, many with members of their families, speaks well to the future. It also reinforces that our family-friendly atmosphere is what people want us to continue,” said Wilson.
“We got a brand-new voter today, and several people inquired as to how to change their party registration. We’ll continue to have voter registration and mail-in ballot information available at each rally.”
Donations of non-perishable food and personal care items were also collected for the local nonprofit SCCAP. The rallies are set to continue weekly, except June 21, when the Adams County Democratic Committee holds its annual Volunteer Appreciation event. The next rally is scheduled for June 28.

I went through Gettysburg yesterday around 2 pm and saw a huge number of motorcycles ride around the square carrying the American flag and many in support of our President. Why was this not reported here and only the protesters against Trump? You also stated that the military parade in Washington was to honor Trump’s birthday. That is not true, it was to honor the 250th birthday of the US Army. This is a biased news outlet that tells half-truths and you all should be ashamed of your reporting.
Article is terribly biased to the Left. Many more thousands did not protest. Oh, and one more thing, America is not a “democracy” (mob rule), it is a Constitutional Republic that protects minorities, including yours…
