Dr. Simmons is exhibiting a collection of landscape, cityscape, portraits and architectural photographs on metal in the reception hall.  Lisa says of her work, “I see the world through my camera lens, natural landscapes, urban architecture, and faces. As a photographer, the world consists of nuances of light and shadow, the angles of architecture, the curves of nature, the resonance of color and texture, and the juxtaposition of space and content.” She continues, “My interest in photography began with my father’s old German camera that he brought home from Europe after his service in the US Army. He was generous and kind with both his time and his camera, teaching me the technical aspects of aperture, shutter speed, and the light meter. And as an engineer, he gave me his eye for details, as well as the optics of photography.”

Local photographer, Loy Elliott, is featuring a collection of aerial photographs on print-n-stick paper in the gallery.  His photographs were taken while flying with Jim Chick and David Salisbury on different occasions around Adams County.  He says, “I have always been interested in large photographs and murals, and how they become windows and change the perception of the spaces they are in. New technology, including the Large-scale inkjet printer, make it practical to work in this way.   The photographs in this exhibition have been taken over a number of years, yet they barely convey the beauty and diversity of Adams County from the air. The immense variety of the topography and the overlying film of civilization on the surface is a subject that I could explore for many more years.”

Diversity, a collection of oils and acrylics by James Rowland, is currently hanging in the studio.  James was originally trained as a commercial and graphic artist and established a home studio in 2016 where he immersed himself in the world a ‘fine art” as a self-taught oils and acrylic artist.  His range of work is diverse covering landscapes, abstracts, still life, and fantasy.  His painting techniques and palette knife work are influenced by the old-world masters.  He has recently won First Prize for his palette work from the Art Center in Mechanicsburg, PA juried 2019 exhibition.
