Gettysburg National Military Park announced the registration dates for the Tier-1 Written Exam. The written exam is the first step in a multi-tiered licensing process to become a Licensed Battlefield Guide at Gettysburg National Military Park. Registration will occur via www.pay.gov beginning Monday, Aug. 19, 2024, and closing at 11:59 p.m. EST Saturday, Sept. 7, 2024. The registration fee is $250.00, and payments via pay.gov will only be accepted. No personal checks or late registrations will be accepted.
The written exam, the first part of an intense multi-tiered process, will be given on Saturday, Dec. 7, 2024, at the Harrisburg Area Community College (Gettysburg Campus) from 9 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Once the registration window closes, registrants will receive more detailed information regarding exam day logistics.

Information about the licensing process is available on the park’s website at nps.gov/gett. The licensing process consists of five tiers: the written exam, the panel interview, the field practicum, the oral exam, and the post-licensing orientation. Candidates must pass each tier in succession to become Licensed Battlefield Guides.
