Track and Field: Squires sweep Canners in Tuesday meet

Delone emerged victorious against Biglerville by a score of 93-53 in the boys’ competition.

In the distance events, Aiden Davis from Delone won the 1600m race, while the Squires’ Ryan Young won the 3200 meters. The 3200m relay was won by Delone’s team, consisting of Joseph Catlin, Jack Godecker, Liam Allen, and Aiden Davis.

In the field events, Cam Keller from Delone won the shot put and the discus throw events, while Luke Showers from Biglerville won the javelin throw event.

Over on the girls’ side, it was Delone 78, Biglerville 58.

Claire Roberts of Biglerville had an impressive performance in the long jump, leaping 13’3″ to earn six points for her team. Emily Wells of Delone followed closely behind with a jump of 13′.5″, earning three. In the triple jump, Roberts once again shone for Biglerville, jumping 28’2″ and earning five points for her team.

Fina Mochi of Delone dominated in the pole vault, clearing 8’6″, and In the high jump, Mochi cleared 4’10”. Haylee Smith of Biglerville had an impressive showing in both the shot put and discus, throwing 29’5″ and 88’5″, respectively, and earning a total of 15 points. 

Amanda Kane of Biglerville and Madison O’Brien of Delone went head to head in the 100-meter dash, with Kane clocking in at 13.7 seconds. In the 200-meter dash, Kane once again impressed, crossing the finish line in 28.9 seconds to win.

Sophia Kennedy of Delone finished first in the 1600-meter run, clocking in at 6:34.1, and Samantha Bealmear of Delone had an impressive showing in the 800-meter run, finishing in 2:37.4.
