Two New Developments Proposed in Gettysburg Borough

A three-house residential development near the Lutheran Seminary and a large residential-commercial project at the corner of Water and 4th streets are under review by Gettysburg Borough.

Borough Engineer Chad Clabaugh said the Water St. project, proposed by Shippensburg Physical Therapy & Sports Medicine, was “one of the bigger land developments we’ve seen in a while.”

The proposal is for three buildings to be constructed on the vacant lot at the corner of Water and 4th Sts., which would include two professional offices as well as four duplexes providing eight residential units.

Clabaugh said the developers still had issues to deal with in order to meet borough ordinance standards, and that the layout could change significantly by the time it’s approved.

The residential project at the intersection of Hay and Spring Sts. involves creating three new lots to be separated from the Seminary.  Lots 2 and 3 currently have houses on them.  The intent is to build a single family residential house on Lot 1.

Both projects are currently on the agenda for Tuesday’s Planning Commission meeting at 7:00 p.m.
