Uber has filed a lawsuit against DoorDash, accusing the leading food delivery service of pressuring restaurants into exclusivity agreements. The lawsuit, filed in California on February 14, claims that DoorDash threatened restaurants with higher commission fees if they also partnered with Uber Eats.
According to the complaint, DoorDash allegedly warned restaurants of significant financial penalties, including increased commission rates of up to 30% per order and millions in additional fees. Uber claims that these tactics forced some restaurants to abandon plans to join its platform. The company also alleges that DoorDash threatened to demote restaurants within its app if they worked with Uber Eats.

Uber Eats and DoorDash offer delivery services and advertising options to restaurants, even for orders placed directly through a restaurant’s website or app. However, DoorDash controls a larger share of the U.S. market, with 90% of major restaurants available on its platform.
Uber is seeking a court order to force DoorDash to change its business practices, arguing that its actions limit competition and harm restaurants. DoorDash, however, has denied all allegations, calling Uber’s claims meritless.
