The Gettysburg Unitarian Universalist Church Faith and Community Committee would like to issue a special invitation to members and friends to join us on Sunday, November 13, 2022, at 10:30am to attend our UUG service where we will be introducing The Pledge to End Racism.
The Pledge is a personal commitment to work on ourselves and with others to address racism in all its forms. Our service will be led by The Rev. Carla Christopher, Assistant to the Bishop in Charge of Justice Ministries for Lower Susquehanna Synod, ELCA.

We were inspired by the First UU of Richmond Virginia who have taken this pledge to a national level. The Richmond Pledge to End Racism is based on the Birmingham (AL) Pledge of 1997. This pledge recognizes the worth and dignity of every individual and seeks to make a daily, personal commitment to remove prejudice from our own lives. We have crafted our pledge to reflect our UUG values and hopes.
In this endeavor, we have partnered with the Gettysburg YWCA and believe it has special resonance in our community. Our intention is to get individuals to sign the Pledge and become a part of this important work. We look forward to seeing you and thank you in advance for joining us.
I can’t seem to find the address of this church.

At one time, houses of worship were the centers of their communities. They provided comfort, shelter, sustenance, and safety from all forms of intruders. Time and technology have seen their influence decline to all time lows. It seems that once again, they are being called upon to be the beacons of hope and justice.
