Upper Adams Community Cares Will Combine Food Drive and School Board Meet-And-Greet

Upper Adams Community Cares will host a canned food drive and Meet & Greet of potential Upper Adams School Board candidates on Saturday, February 22, from 10 a.m. to noon at the Harbaugh-Thomas Library in Biglerville. Upper Adams residents can meet candidates who are dedicated to supporting students and educators in the Canner Community. Light refreshments will be served, there will be activities for kids, as well as a free book for every student. Donations of canned goods and hygiene items (detergent, shampoo, deodorant, personal hygiene items) will be collected at the event to support the Upper Adams Food Pantry, which serves 20-25 families in the Upper Adams area each month.

Upper Adams Community Cares also wants to thank the community members for their generous donations during the Coat Drive in December. Approximately 200 coats were donated and monetary donations totaling more than $2500 went directly to the School Social Worker to use for other immediate student needs. As of mid January, about 50 of the coats had been delivered to students as well as numerous pairs of mittens and gloves. Any Upper Adams student or family in need of warm coats can contact Melissa Calderon, School Social Worker.
