Boy Scouts in the Upper Adams area are encouraging new members to join their growing programs, highlighting outdoor adventure, character-building and leadership development as key benefits for young people.
Local troops say Scouting offers boys opportunities to gain confidence while learning skills that help them become responsible members of the community. Activities include camping, hiking, swimming, fishing, archery, bicycling trips, and the popular Klondike Derby, giving participants hands-on experience in teamwork, problem solving, and outdoor preparedness.
Boys ages 11 to 17 are eligible to join the Boy Scouts, while younger children can get involved through Cub Scouts. Cub Scout packs operate in both Biglerville and Bendersville for boys in kindergarten through fifth grade.
Leaders in the Upper Adams hope families will consider Scouting for sons, grandsons, nephews, or any youth who might benefit from a structured program that blends fun with personal development. Troops emphasize that the program welcomes beginners and experienced outdoor enthusiasts alike.
