Upper Adams Intermediate School students will lace up their sneakers Friday, Oct. 2, 2026 as they take part in the annual PTO-sponsored fundraiser.

The event will give fourth, fifth, and sixth-grade students an opportunity to get active while helping raise money for activities and resources that enrich their school experience.

Students will participate during their physical education classes and will walk or jog as many laps as they can. Funds raised through the event will help the PTO purchase playground equipment, support field trips and artist in residence, guest speakers, and provide other special programs and opportunities for students throughout the school year.

Upper Adams Intermediate School Principal Sonia Buckley announced, “this the only fundraiser the school does.” The fifth grade students will take part from 10:30 a.m. to 11:15 a.m., followed by the sixth grade from 12:45 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. Fourth graders will participate from 1:30 p.m. to 2:15 p.m.

Adam Tuckey, Upper Adams Intermediate School PTO President said, “The race tends to bring in close to $23,000. Our goal is always $20,000.” He added, “It’s important because it helps support the PTO budget for the entire year.” “The money raised is never from one or a few large donations but rather from lots of small monetary donations ranging from $5.00 – $50.00.”
