The Adam County Library System welcomes library users back to the library for our “new normal”!
The libraries in Gettysburg, Carroll Valley, Biglerville, Littlestown and New Oxford will open for their regularly scheduled public hours for walk-in browsing, computer use and more – no appointment needed – on Monday, August 31.

Currently, the East Berlin branch is not able to accommodate browsing due to limited staffing.
Public computer use is available at all branches. The one-hour time limit remains and color and black and white printing is available. Photocopying, scanning and FAX services are also available.
Masks are required for library users 2 years and older to protect our visitors and our staff.Library to Go Continues
Library to Go is our very popular takeaway service. This service allows library users to come to the libraries to retrieve their ‘takeaway orders’ that are already checked out and ready to go!
Place your holds using the online catalog or call the library and a staff member will place the holds for you. You will receive an email to when your items have been retrieved.
While you may pick up your reserved items from the holds shelves when you visit to browse, you may also schedule a pickup using the Library to Go service. Once you receive your emailed notice that your items have arrived, call the library to schedule a day for pickup and your items will be checked out for your convenience. The best takeaway service in town!

Masks are required when picking up library materials.

Exterior Book Returns are still the way to return all LIBRARY materials (No donations!)
The exterior book returns are open for library materials only. The Library System is not able to accept donations at this time. As quarantine of library materials is the most effective known method of disinfection, all returned materials will be quarantined for 4 days before check-in. In order to accommodate this time lag, check-in will be backdated to the date of return.
While your library record may show that items you have placed in the book returns are overdue, you will not be accruing fines.
Although the quarantine period will not affect fines, we are unable to adjust our circulation system to remove the overdue status of items until they are checked in. Access to some online resources, such as cloudLibrary, may be affected by this time lag.
Again, we cannot accept donations at this time. Please do not place donations in our Book Returns or leave them outside any of our libraries. While the Friends of the Library are grateful for the book donations they receive throughout the year, we must pause donations until further notice. The Friends volunteers hope to be able to accept books again soon.
