WE Women Empowered and Gettysburg Picnics Present Gettysburg’s 1st Annual Mrs. Roper Romp!

WE Women Empowered, in collaboration with Gettysburg Picnics, is thrilled to announce Gettysburg’s 1st Annual Mrs. Roper Romp, a fun-filled celebration inspired by the beloved character from “Three’s Company.”   The event is set for Thursday, June 20 from 6-9 p.m. at Lincoln Social Food Market.

A “Mrs. Roper Romp” is a spinoff of “The Million Mrs. Roper March” imagined, founded, and created by Bud Moore. This event originated in 2013 as a vibrant and creatively themed bar crawl during New Orleans’ Southern Decadence parade. The initial event saw about 50 participants dressed in caftans and curly red wigs, emulating the iconic character Mrs. Helen Roper from the 1970s TV show “Three’s Company.”

Moore’s vision quickly gained popularity, turning into a global phenomenon. Now, there are over 50 cities worldwide hosting similar events, celebrating the unique and whimsical spirit of Mrs. Roper. These events typically feature attendees in full costume, including caftans, wigs, and chunky jewelry, paying homage to Mrs. Roper’s distinctive style and character.

“While our mission at WE Women Empowered is focused on professional development and social networking for women in various professions, we’re excited to let our hair down a bit and have some fun with this event, remarked WE Co-Founder and Co-President, Lori Hockey.  “The

Mrs. Roper Romp is a wonderful opportunity to collaborate with Gettysburg Picnics to bring our community together in a unique and enjoyable way and to support the work of Gettysburg Community Theatre.”

“We would also like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Lincoln Social Food Market for their partnership in making this event possible,” noted Hockley. “Their support and venue are integral to the success of our celebration.”
