Men’s College Basketball
A 12-0 Gettysburg run in the first half opened up a 14-point lead, and the Bullets maintained a lead of no fewer than five points over the game’s final 26:43 in a 71-61 win at Haverford on Saturday. Carl Schaller led the Bullets with 20 points, five assists, and two steals, and Jordan Stafford chipped in a 19-point, 9-rebound performance. He also handed out three assists.
With a Franklin & Marshall victory over Johns Hopkins, Gettysburg is now part of a three-way tie for first place with two games to play. The Bullets have secured a home game in the Centennial Conference tournament but would need two wins in their final two regular season games to assure a first-round bye and host a semifinal for the second straight year.

The visiting Mount St. Mary’s Mountaineers used a 15-2 run over a span of 3:34 in the late stages of the second half to earn a 73-66 road win over Canisius in MAAC men’s basketball action Sunday afternoon at the Koessler Athletic Center. The win improved Mount St. Mary’s to 15-10 overall and 8-6 in MAAC play, while the Golden Griffins fell to 2-23 overall and 2-12 in league games with their seventh-straight loss.
Arlandus Keyes came off the Mount St. Mary’s bench and scored 14 of his team-high 17 points in the second half for the Mount, which earned its first program victory at the Koessler Athletic Center with the win. Jedy Cordilia scored 14 points, Dallas Hobbs added 10 points, and Terrell Ard Jr., posted a game-high 12 rebounds as the Mountaineers out-rebounded the Griffs by a 40-24 clip. For the day, Mount St. Mary’s shot 50 percent.
Women’s College Basketball
Gettysburg, ranked 12th in the latest D3hoops.com poll, jumped out to a 16-4 first-quarter lead and limited Haverford to just 11 first-half points in a 71-33 victory Saturday.
Shinya Lee led the Bullets with 15 points and 12 rebounds. She also had three blocked shots. Alayna Arnolie led all scorers with 16 points to go with five assists and two steals.
The win clinched a first-round bye in the upcoming Centennial Conference tournament for Gettysburg. The Bullets will host one of the two semifinals on Friday, Feb. 28 and kept pace with Johns Hopkins for a chance at the top seed.
Gettysburg returns to action at McDaniel on Wednesday. Game time is 6 p.m.
NHL
The NHL regular season featured several matchups over the weekend. Notable games included the Pittsburgh Penguins securing a 4-2 victory over the Philadelphia Flyers, and the Washington Capitals edging out the New York Rangers 3-2 in overtime.
NBA
In NBA action, the Los Angeles Lakers defeated the Boston Celtics 112-108, with a standout performance from their star forward. Meanwhile, the Chicago Bulls overcame the Miami Heat 105-99 in a closely contested game.
