WellSpan Unveils $1.5M Nursing Innovation Center

A $1.5 million donation has been received by WellSpan Good Samaritan Hospital in Lebanon, PA to set up a nursing innovation center, furthering its efforts to address the ongoing nursing workforce challenges.

The proposed Jeanne Donlevy Arnold Center for Nursing Innovation will provide opportunities for nursing leadership to explore and develop best practices, nurse recruitment and retention strategies, and leadership and management programs. The center will be named after a former WellSpan Good Samaritan Hospital employee and community leader.

Jeanne Donlevy Arnold, a retired WellSpan employee, has a deep passion for the nursing profession. She understands the importance of innovating in nursing care delivery across the country and in the community. The center will offer a platform for collaboration and creativity to enhance nurse recruitment and retention. This will ultimately help improve patient outcomes and care delivery.

The aging population of the United States has led to recent nursing workforce challenges. WellSpan has been focused on reimagining the nursing profession, leveraging technology, and using innovative tools such as virtual nursing options to streamline processes and improve patient care. The proposed center of nursing innovation will build on these progress and further enhance nursing education and development opportunities.

The center will focus on three key goals: Professional development and recognition, Innovation and research, and Clinical practice. The program will include mentorships and coaching opportunities for nursing leaders, academic partnerships, research fellowships, and advanced delivery models of care. The Arnolds have aimed most of their charitable donations toward supporting health and wellness programs, including gifts to support programs at WellSpan Philhaven. They are deeply proud to have a legacy of giving that continues to support WellSpan and other organizations dedicated to providing excellent healthcare to the community.
