Softball and baseball victories Thursday afternoon
Softball
After trailing 2-0 after three innings, Gettysburg broke through for five runs in the top of the fourth, then three more in the next inning, en route to a 9-4 softball win over Bishop McDevitt on the Crusaders’ home field.
Rachel Massenheimer and Samantha Carbaugh each had two hits for Gettysburg, while Veronica Paul knocked in two of the Warriors’ runs. On the defensive end, Carbaugh pitched the first six innings, with Emily Haines finishing up.
Baseball
It only took six innings for the Gettysburg baseball team to conquer McDevitt, 15-5, in a game played on the Warriors’ home diamond.
Braden Manning had a big game for the winners, collecting two hits and three RBI, while going the distance on the mound. Although surrendering five runs, Manning allowed just one after a four-run McDevitt third inning, striking out nine along the way and walking only two.
The Gettysburg offense racked up 14 hits in all. Bryce Rudisill, Hunter Gillin, Zach Williams, and Wyatt Sokol all had two hits for the Warriors.
