A woman was flown to the hospital with severe injuries Wednesday morning after a tractor-trailer struck her vehicle and the porch of a home in Gardners, according to authorities.
The crash was reported around 8:35 a.m. near the intersection of Carlisle and Peach Glen roads, Pennsylvania State Police said.
Jackson Township Fire Chief Charley Westcott said the tractor-trailer was hauling ash when the back of the trailer swung out of line. The trailer struck a car traveling along the roadway before crashing into the porch of a nearby home.
State police identified the tractor-trailer driver as 29-year-old Nathaniel McNeil. He was not injured and was able to walk away from the crash, police said.
The driver of the car, 75-year-old Barbara Braband, suffered severe injuries and was flown by medical helicopter to a hospital for treatment, according to a state police news release.
Westcott said one person was inside the home at the time of the crash, but that individual was not hurt.
As of late Wednesday morning, emergency crews and contractors were continuing work to remove the tractor-trailer from the porch. Officials said the operation was being handled cautiously because removing the trailer could cause part of the structure to collapse.
