– Senior Ashley Gehrin (Chester, N.J./West Morris Mendham) was named the Centennial Conference Player of the week for the second time this season following an MVP performance for the ages at the St. Vincent Classic last weekend.
Gehrin produced a historic performance in her final appearance of 2019, averaging 26 points and 8.5 rebounds, while shooting 66.7 percent (22-of-33) from the floor in a pair of victories. She opened the St. Vincent Classic with a team-high 15 points and nine rebounds in a 66-50 victory over Hartwick College.
The following night, the senior guard poured in a career-high 37 points, tying the second-highest point total in program history, and led Gettysburg to a come-from-behind 72-71 win over St. Vincent. She tallied her 1,000th career point with the final bucket of the first half and she scored 24 points in the final 20 minutes as the Bullets erased an eight-point deficit in the final minutes of play. Gehrin dropped in 16 field goals – the most by a Gettysburg player in 35 years – to go along with eight rebounds and three assists.
Gehrin ranks second in the CC in scoring at 17.7 points per game and she ranks second in the league with a shooting percentage of 55.9. She has scored in double-figures in all but one game with four efforts of 20 or more.
