The No. 24 Gettysburg Bullets passed the Ursinus Bears with a 67-48 victory on Saturday in Collegeville. The win cements Gettysburg’s position in the Conference, improving their record to 20-3 overall and 17-1 in conference play.
Gettysburg showcased their efficiency, shooting 58.8 percent from the field in the first quarter. This start allowed the Bullets to establish a 12-point lead, a margin that proved tough for the Bears throughout the contest.
Leading the charge for Gettysburg was Alayna Arnolie of Vienna, Virginia, who poured in 14 of her 24 points in the opening stanza. Arnolie’s performance was complemented by Mackenzie Szlosek from Holtsville, New York, who added 15 points and led the team with seven rebounds.
Chinwe Irondi emerged as a bright spot for the Bears, leading her team with 17 points and eight rebounds, while Madison Smith added a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds.
The game saw Gettysburg extending their lead in the second period and maintaining control thereafter. Despite a rally from Ursinus in the third quarter, the Bullets responded, stretching their lead to 20 points and never looking back.
Arnolie has scored 20 or more points in her last six games, underscoring her importance to the team’s success. The Bullets’ defensive effort was also key, holding the Bears to 31.6 percent shooting from the floor.
Gettysburg returns home to face McDaniel on Wednesday, with tip-off scheduled for 6 p.m.
