INDIANAPOLIS – The Gettysburg College women’s basketball team will travel and face host institute Marymount (Va.) University in the opening round of the NCAA Division III Championship on Friday, March 6 with a time to be determined.
Gettysburg is making its eighth trip and third consecutive to the big dance, marking the first time in program history that the Bullets have made the tournament for three years in a row. The Bullets march into the NCAA tournament after finishing the season with a 22-5 overall record and 17-3 mark in the Centennial Conference while finishing runner-up in the league tournament.
The Orange and Blue will face a Marymount (23-4) squad that captured its second consecutive Atlantic East Conference Championship this past Saturday, beating Cabrini University 67-49. The Saints own two wins over NCAA qualifiers, defeating Haverford 41-33 in the second game of the season as well as topping then-ranked No. 8 Messiah College 54-51 eight days later.
This will be the fifth-ever meeting between Gettysburg and Marymount. The Saints hold the 3-1 all-time series record with its last meeting taking place during the 2008-09 season, which Marymount won 68-52.
The winner between the Bullets and Saints will draw the victor between George Fox University (21-6) and Montclair State University (21-6), which meet on Friday with a time to be announced. The second round will take place Saturday with a time to be determined.
