NEW ORLEANS – The Gettysburg College women’s cross country team has been ranked ninth in the preseason NCAA Division III Mid-Atlantic Region rankings, as released by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

The Bullets, who earned their first regional ranking since 2018, join five other Centennial Conference teams in the regional rankings. Johns Hopkins University was ranked No. 1 followed by Dickinson College (No. 2) in the Mid-Atlantic, while Swarthmore College, Haverford College, and Ursinus College ranked No. 1, No. 4, and No. 9 respectively in the Metro Region.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Gettysburg did not compete in 2020. During the 2019 season, the Bullets finished seventh at the CC championship and 26th at NCAA Division III Mideast Regional.

Gettysburg will kick off its 43rd Annual Cross Country Alumni Race this Saturday with the first collegiate race set for Sept. 3 at the Piper Alumni Open/XC Challenge, hosted by Shippensburg University beginning at 8:00 p.m.
