2021 IWLCA Zag Sports Academic Honor Roll | Academic Honor Squads

NORTHBOROUGH, Mass. – The Gettysburg College women’s lacrosse team was named an Academic Honor Squad and five student-athletes were tagged to the Zag Sports Academic Honor Roll according to an announcement by the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA).

To earn a spot on the honor roll, a student-athlete must be nominated by her school, achieve at least junior status academically, and have a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or greater.

Individuals claiming spots on the academic squad for this past year were 2021 graduates Gabby Dunning (Oreland, Pa./Springside Chestnut Hill Academy), Kerry McKeever (Stony Brook, N.Y./Ward Melville), and Kerry Ullman (Fairfield, Conn./Academy of Our Lady of Mercy, Lauralton Hall) and rising seniors Julia Horner (Leesburg, Va./Rock Ridge) and Maddi Seibel (Newtown, Pa./Pennington School). Gettysburg’s five selections tied a program-high that also occurred in 2019.

Dunning developed into a key component of Gettysburg’s nationally-ranked defensive unit. She appeared in every game over the last two seasons and totaled ten ground balls and two caused turnovers in 29 career appearances. Dunning, a three-time Centennial Conference Academic Honor Roll recipient, graduated from Gettysburg with a psychology degree with a sociology minor. She will be pursuing her master’s in clinical and mental health counseling at Fairleigh Dickinson.

McKeever was a three-time All-American, earning third-team honors from both the IWLCA in 2019 and Inside Lacrosse in 2020 and gaining second-team national status this past spring. In six games in 2021, McKeever tied for the team lead with 20 goals and added six goals, eight ground balls, and a team-high 21 draw controls. She was also tagged Academic All-District 4 Women’s At-Large First Team by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), CC Offensive Player of the Year, All-Metro Region First Team, and All-CC First Team this spring. McKeever, a three-time CC Academic Honor Roll and two-time Academic All-Centennial Team honoree, graduated with an economics degree with a business minor. She tallied 191 points on 140 goals and 51 assists in 55 career games.

Ullman was a four-year letterwinner on the attack and tallied ten goals and two assists in 20 career games. In 2019, she played with the Irish National Team at the European Lacrosse Championships in Israel. The organizational and management studies major and business minor was a three-time CC Academic Honor Roll recipient.

The senior trio helped Gettysburg achieve an impressive 49 wins against just six losses, claimed two CC titles, and captured a national title in 2018.

As an attacker, Horner has appeared in 13 games, tallying a goal and an assist. She is an organizational and management studies major with a business minor and has been named to the CC Academic Honor Roll list twice.

Seibel has appeared in 28 games with five starts as an attacker. She produced two assists in the victory against Muhlenberg College this past spring. Overall, Seibel has posted six goals, seven assists, and six ground balls. The two-time CC Academic Honor Roll recipient is a physics major with a mathematics and business minor.

Additionally, Gettysburg was selected as a Zag Sports Academic Honor Squad for the 12th time in the last 14 seasons. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the awards were not selected for the 2019-20 academic year. To qualify for this honor, a team must have posted a 3.0 or higher team GPA for the 2020-21 academic year.

Gettysburg finished 5-1 this past spring, which was shortened due to the pandemic.
