de>GETTYSBURG, Pa. – After missing the 2020 season due to the pandemic, the Gettysburg College women’s soccer team is excited to return to the pitch for a full schedule of games in 2021.

The 2019 season was an unbelievable one for the Bullets team, returning to the NCAA Division III Tournament for the first time in five years after winning 13 matches and reaching the conference semifinals. The Orange and Blue opened the season with nine consecutive victories, which was the best since opening the 1993 season with 14-straight, registered eight shutouts, and claimed its first national ranking since 2014. The Bullets ended their season on the national stage, facing the two-time defending national champions No. 24 Williams College in the opening round.

The 2019 season marked the first time in Centennial Conference history that five women’s soccer teams competed in the NCAA tournament.

The Bullets open the 2021 season by hosting Bridgewater College (Va.) on Sept. 1, the reigning Old Dominion Athletic Conference Champions who also ranked No. 17 in the final United Soccer Coaches Division III Top 25 in 2021. This game will mark the first for women’s soccer on Clark Field since Gettysburg played against McDaniel College in the opening round of the Centennial Conference Championship on Nov. 6, 2019.

Gettysburg hits the road for a pair of games at Elizabethtown College on Sept. 4 and Shenandoah University on Sept. 8. It will be the fifth consecutive meeting against the Blue Jays, while it will be the third in program history against the Hornets.

The Orange and Blue return to host three games on Clark Field, starting with York College (Pa.) on Sept. 15 and opens Centennial Conference action against Ursinus College on Sept. 18 and McDaniel on Sept. 22. Gettysburg plays on the road at Swarthmore College on Sept. 25 and closes the final game of September at Lebanon Valley College on the 29th.

The Bullets start the month of October at Bryn Mawr College on the 2nd and return to Clark Field four days later to welcome Johns Hopkins University on Oct. 6. When the Bullets and Blue Jays last squared off at Clark Field in 2019, it was arguably the best game of the season. Gettysburg topped No. 5 JHU 3-2 in overtime, marking the first time since 2014 that the Bullets beat a top-10 nationally ranked opponent. Johns Hopkins went on to claim the 2019 CC title after beating Dickinson College, 2-0.

Gettysburg will take a break in conference action to play against St. Mary’s (Md.) College for the first time since 2011 on Oct. 9 at Clark Field. The Bullets will then make the short drive to Carlisle to face Dickinson on Oct. 13, return home to play Washington College (Md.) on Oct. 16, compete in their final non-conference contest at Catholic University on Oct. 20, and play the final home game against Haverford College on Oct. 23. Gettysburg concludes the last two regular-season games on the road at rival Franklin & Marshall College on Oct. 28 and at Muhlenberg College on Oct. 31.

All home games will be streamed live on the Centennial Conference Digital Network.
