Meet Highlights

  • Gettysburg claimed its first gold of the 2020 championship meet with a strong showing in the 200 medley relay. Wasson gave the team the early advantage with a 25.56 split in the backstroke, marking the best 50-yard split in program history. Cooper added to the advantage in the breaststroke, but Swarthmore made up some ground in the fly race as Saya Vaules tried to track down Clancy. The Gettysburg first-year held onto the lead and Crilly took advantage, flying through the water and touching the wall in 23.12 seconds. The team’s time of 1:44.30 broke the previous standard of 1:46.11 set four years ago at the CC Championships. The Bullets hit a national “B” cut time, as did runner-up Swarthmore at 1:45.01.
  • The Garnet led from start-to-finish in the 800 free relay as Anna Kottakis set her team ahead by two seconds on the opening leg. Gettysburg was unable to reel in the front-runners, but the quartet of Bobeck, Cooper, Wojnar, and Sears still managed to post the second-fastest time in program history at 7:42.98. Swarthmore reached another national qualifying time at 7:38.37. The Bullets won the “B” final of the 800 free as the team of freshmen Lauren Manning (West Hartford, Conn./Conard), Regan Tait (Boyds, Md./Northwest), and Sarah Fravel (Selinsgrove, Pa./Selinsgrove), and sophomore Tess Kasunic (Germantown, Md./Northwest) finished in 7:56.38.
