  • Both doubles teams made the finals on the first day of competition. Sophomores Catherine Haley (Berwyn, Pa./Conestoga) and Tierney Cantwell (Lancaster, Pa./Hempfield) took full advantage of an opening-round bye on the way to winning the doubles “C” draw. The pair opened with a 6-2, 7-5 over a tandem from Goucher before downing Abbey DeLisio and Kendall Halsey of Lebanon Valley College 6-3, 6-4. In the “B” draw, freshmen Kate Alianello (Fairfield, Conn./Fairfield Ludlowe) and Shoshi Dondes (Pikesville, Md./Beth Tfiloh) marched into the finals with a pair of straight-set wins before dropping back-to-back 6-3 decisions.
  • Sophomore Gillian Rozenfeld (Haddonfield, N.J./Haddonfield Memorial) made quick work of her three opponents for Gettysburg’s first individual title in the individual “C” draw on Saturday. Rozenfeld swept past her first two opponents 6-4, 6-2 and 6-2, 6-0 to reach the finals. The sophomore played Tiffany Trivers from Rutgers-Camden in a pro-set and cruised to an 8-4 win.
  • Sophomore Andrea Brazyte (Ronkonkoma, N.Y./Connetquot) pulled out the championship in the top singles flight in the tournament, but she had to rally for a win in the semifinals. After dropping only two games in a first-round straight-set victory, Brazyte fell to Sarah Ahrens of Rutgers-Camden 6-1 in the opening set of their semifinal bout. The Gettysburg sophomore rebounded with a bagel in the second set and then pulled off an 11-9 in the tiebreaker. Brazyte capped the individual title by earning a pair of two-point wins (7-5, 6-4) over Lebanon Valley’s Jacquelyn McBride in the finals.
  • Gettysburg’s final championship came from junior Alex Rieg (Phoenixville, Pa./Phoenixville) in the “D” draw. Rieg cruised through her opening two matches and nearly shut out her opponent, Kelly O’Brien from Immaculata, in the finals. She topped O’Brien 6-1, 6-0 for the win.
  • Freshman Sarah Guistwite (Carlisle, Pa./Wilson Hill Academy) nearly added another title for the Bullets in the “B” draw. After beating her first two foes on Saturday, Guistwite came out with a 6-3 win over Elena Nunez of Stockton in their opening set of the finals. Nunez rallied with a 6-1 win in set two and edged the Gettysburg first-year 11-9 in the tiebreaker.
