The top doubles tandem of sophomores Andrea Brazyte (Ronkonkoma, N.Y./Connetquot) and Gillian Rozenfeld (Haddonfield, N.J./Haddonfield Memorial) easily dispatched Kasi Conjack and Angela Tossi 8-0. Sophomores Catherine Haley (Berwyn, Pa./Conestoga) and Isa Murphy (Middletown, N.J./Trinity Hall) helped the Bullets grab a 2-1 lead with an 8-2 decision at the third flight.
Gettysburg swept through singles action with Brazyte and freshman Sarah Guistwite (Carlisle, Pa./Wilson Hill Academy) each posting 6-0, 6-0 decisions at No. 1 and No. 3, respectively. After winning the first set 6-2, junior Alex Rieg (Phoenixville, Pa./Phoenixville) closed with a shutout (6-0) at the fourth flight. Rozenfeld laid down a pair of 6-2 scores against Rachel Marcroft at No. 2, while freshman Kate Alianiello (Fairfield, Conn./Fairfield Ludlowe) also dropped just four games on the way to a 6-1, 6-3 win at the sixth position. Sophomore Tierney Cantwell (Lancaster, Pa./Hempfield) completed the singles sweep with a 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 5.
Where the Series Stands Now
The Bullets have won each of the last three meetings with the Falcons and lead the all-time series 14-1. Saturday’s decision was Gettysburg’s biggest win over Messiah since a 9-0 win in 2013.
