Please join Karl Mattson and Project Gettysburg-León (PGL) for a Garden Party fundraiser on Saturday, July 12, 2025, from 5:30 to 8 pm. On land once owned by the abolitionist Thaddeus Stevens, Karl’s garden fills two acres with gorgeous green plants, blooming flowers, and trees all laid out along winding paths, animated by birds in flight and the splash of the garden pond.
Highlights include a pond filled with koi; sculptures; boxwood hedges; a gazebo; and a riotous array of flowers that fill the garden with scent and color from spring through fall.

You can wander the paths taking in hidden wonders like stone toads, metal fish swimming in a dry creek bed, and many other wonders. Look for Merlin holding a glowing gazing ball. Benches and tables with chairs dot the gardens so you can socialize or find a little time alone to enjoy a beautiful spot.
Enjoy hors d’oeuvres, desserts, and complimentary wine, beer, and non-alcoholic beverages amid the serene and beautiful garden setting, and the music of local musicians wafting over the foliage and flowers.
Tickets are $100/person. Don’t miss out—buy them today!
We welcome sponsorships, which are available at several giving levels. Click here for more information.
The Garden Party fundraiser supports the Las Marías water project, which will reactivate a dormant well and provide clean drinking water to over 1,400 people, more than half under age fifteen, in the rural community of Las Marías.
All labor is coming from the families who will benefit, and Las Marías has a water board to oversee the project and maintain the reactivated well once the work is completed. The community purchased the pump and asked PGL for assistance in buying other materials.
Through all the work done by Project Gettysburg León over many years, the underlying purpose is to be decent people to each other, across boundaries of geography, language, and culture.
