Adams County Farmers Market Association is sponsoring Young Entrepreneurs Day during its regular market hours on Saturday, July 27.
The purpose of the event is to give young people in our community (ages 7-15) a chance to explore the realm of entrepreneurship and small business. It’s also meant to be a fun way for kids to try thinking outside the box, work collaboratively with their family and peers, and begin to assume greater responsibility in the community at large.
About 28 young young people signed up, who will be selling a wide range of different products including cookies, homemade soaps, ‘magic’ wands, wood crafts, tie-dye shirts, keychains, canvas bags, and, of course, some of them will be setting up the classic lemonade stand.
We’ve invited young people to come and sell their own creations and crafts at the market, alongside our regular vendors and growers. We hope that providing this platform for these young people will empower them creatively and inspire them to become the future business leaders of Adams County.
One of the ACFMA’s missions as an organization is to help foster small- and medium-sized businesses in our region. We believe that farmers markets are often a catalyst for entrepreneurial opportunities, and in fact, many of our past vendors have used our market as a platform to launch into greater success. We believe that holding an event like Young Entrepreneurs Day is a natural extension of this aspect of our mission.
