YWCA CEO resigns

YWCA Gettysburg & Adams County’s Chief Executive Officer Tymia Q. Green resigned last week, according to the organization.

The YWCA announced Green submitted her resignation on Friday afternoon and Advocacy Director Nancy Lilley will serve as interim chief executive officer until further notice.

Green was hired following the resignation of Executive Director Dotty Dalphon in February 2022. The YWCA board of directors conducted a thorough search that led to Green’s hiring, which was immediately preceded by the YWCA navigating the COVID-19 pandemic.

Green, who began her role in June 2022, was the organization’s first African American executive officer.

The YWCA also announced on Friday that no changes in childcare services are in the works.

“Providing a safe and sustainable childcare program is extremely important to us. We can assure the community that at this time there are no immediate plans to change or alter our childcare programs,” a press release stated.

Lilley is a 10-year YWCA employee and a previous Gettysburg Area School District English teacher.

“I love this community and am honored to serve in this way,” said Lilley. “I have a strong support team in the YWCA board and staff and encourage other community members to join our mission.”

The YWCA Gettysburg & Adams County was founded on Lincoln Square in 1929. Its headquarters on Fairfield Road includes a childcare center, aquatics center, and fitness center. The YWCA also operates a childcare center in the Adams Commerce Center.

I know Miss Tymia Green had big visions for the YWCA, visions that would return its focus to community organizing and outreach, especially to the Black community.… Read more »

Nancy is the perfect person to lead the YWCA as the board searches for its next chief executive officer. She embodies the YWCA mission not only at work but in every aspect of her personal life.

Nancy Cook, thanks so much for the support. I loved working at the YWCA for 15 years but it was time to move on. I am very happy at my new job but will support the YWCA from afar.
