After several years of online events, the 2023 YWCA Women’s Excellence Awards, the Callies, are back in person!

Get your tickets today for an October 23 luncheon in the Grand Ballroom at the Gettysburg Hotel celebrating women who have made a positive impact on their community!

The Community Callie Award will be presented to Harriet Marritz. The Dorothy Height YWCA Board Award will be presented to Ruhksana Rahman.  Amy Beck will receive the YWCA Mission Award and an Outstanding Young Woman will be recognized as well.

The program this year also includes a special guest speaker, Tracie Potts, executive director of the Eisenhower Institute at Gettysburg College.

Potts was a Washington Correspondent for NBC News and served as a daily contributor to Early Today, CNBC, and more than 200 NBC affiliates for nearly two decades. She has reported on Congress, the Supreme Court, four presidential administrations, and a wide range of public policy issues.

In addition, Potts has served as an NBC University Instructor with the National Association of Black Journalists and a News Literacy Project Digital Classroom Instructor. She presented digital and virtual lessons to thoughts of students to finetune their skills of discernment and to educate them on the nuances between news and opinion.

The Gettysburg Hotel is preparing three exquisite menu options, and the choice is yours: Gorgonzola Salad w/ shrimp, Chef Salad, or Portabello Sandwich. Lunch is at noon, with the program to follow, getting underway around 12:30. Your $50 contribution covers the meal, the program, and your donation to the Callie cause, a yearly recognition of women’s excellence, right here where we live and work, back in person once again.

Please call Nancy Lilley, YWCA Advocacy Director, at 717-334-9171, ext. 115 to reserve your spot. Reserve a table of 10 for $450.

The YWCA of Gettysburg and Adams County is dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women, and promoting peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all. Each of the women being honored, as well as our guest speaker, embodies the spirit of the mission of the YWCA.

The 2023 Women’s Excellence Awards are sponsored by Adams Electric Cooperative.
